Research Profile:

From 2013 - 2014 I was a master student within The Equine Cardiac Group where I studied the presence, expression level and cellular and regional distribution of ion channels in the equine heart.

After an externship at an Equine hospital in Finland I was granted a PhD Faculty Scholarship.

The overall aim of my PhD is to study the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and to evaluate a new treatment principle by using the horse as an animal model. The investigation will include non-cardiac diseased horses as well as horses with both paroxysmal and persistent AF. This will make it possible to study different stages of AF development and evaluate the effect of different compounds.
