Research Profile:

I am currently enrolled in my master’s thesis project at the University of Copenhagen. The project aims to investigate expression levels of repolarizing potassium channels between species as well as in different regions of the equine heart.

The frequency of arrhythmias in humans increase due to a prolonged action potential interval. However, this is not seen in large animals. A difference in expression levels is interesting due to the negative correlation between ventricular action potential and body weight, apparently without increasing risk of arrhythmias in large animals.

Furthermore, I will investigate the expression levels in different regions of the equine heart since the action potential shape varies throughout different regions of the heart.

During my studies, I have had focus on equine medicine and am to complete my DVM degree in the springtime of 2014.
